Two numbers. No personality quiz.

Fire and Firefighter Check-In

EDFI (Emotional Dumpster Fire Index) rates the fire: how big the situation is. Gary rates the firefighter: how depleted your body is. Same 1-5 scale, two different jobs.

Both scales run the same direction: 1 is fine, 5 is bad. A high Gary number does not mean a strong firefighter. It means an empty one.

EDFI

How big is the fire?

Emotional Dumpster Fire Index. How intense the situation is, not how well you are handling it.

1 Smoldering5 Five-alarm

Pick the number that is most true right now. Not ideal-you. Current-you.

Gary Scale

How's your firefighter?

Your body's capacity. How depleted the firefighter is right now.

1 Fresh shift5 Collapsed

Pick the number that is most true right now. Not ideal-you. Current-you.

Pick both numbers to get the next move.

A small fire plus a collapsed firefighter is not a small problem. That is why you rate both.

This is a self-awareness tool, not a clinical diagnostic. If you are unsafe, in crisis, or dealing with abuse, trauma, or persistent distress, get qualified real-world help.
